Instead of following the usual practice, he strolled up to the nomination table from behind, as if trying to catch the officials off guard.
But the officials weren’t having it. They quickly told Sajith to head back and come at them from the front like everyone else. So, with a bit of a sheepish grin, Sajith did just that.
Some say Sajith’s unusual approach might have been based on astrological advice, with the stars suggesting he face a certain direction. This isn’t the first time someone’s tried this move—back in 2015, Mahinda Rajapaksa did the same, and it didn’t end well for him. Maybe Sajith’s stars had a different plan, but as always, it’s the voters who have the final say.
