The United National Party (UNP) is poised to replace its General Secretary, Palitha Range Bandara, according to a high-level source. The insider confirmed that Mr. Bandara will be stepping down, with an official announcement about his replacement anticipated later today. The decision is reported to have been made by party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.
However, Range Bandara himself has dismissed these claims, urging people not to believe social media rumors. He insists that he remains the UNP General Secretary for now.
Meanwhile, a significant number of party members are requesting that Thalatha Atukorala, who recently resigned from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), be appointed as the replacement for Range Bandara, according to party insiders.
