Elections over Breakfast
The breakfast was a mouth-watering one, featuring kiribath, string hoppers, plain hoppers, egg hoppers, katta sambol, seeni sambol, and fish and chicken curry.
The venue was the official residence of the President at Mahagam Sekera Mawatha (formerly Paget Road).
Wickramasingha had Mahinda Rajapaksha, Basil Rajapaksha, Sagala Rathnayaka, and a few others at the breakfast table. Given the current tense situation, it has become necessary for Wickramasingha to compare notes with the Rajapakshas regularly.
While having breakfast, Ranil Wickramasingha said that the presidential election would go ahead as scheduled, and he did not stop at that; he also mentioned that another election would be held soon.
Parliamentary elections, provincial council elections, or local government elections?
The obvious question for the Rajapakshas was which election? But they did not raise the question because they were aware that the game was up and it was Wickramasingha who would be calling the shots, and they now had to just follow.
Meanwhile, Ranil Wickramasingha has been busy having talks with the Tamil National Alliance on amendments to the Provincial Council Act.
