Presidential candidate and former Minister of Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe signed his nomination papers today, officially entering the race for the 2024 Presidential Election.
Speaking to the press after the signing, Rajapaksha expressed skepticism about the future of many current members of Parliament, stating that they are unlikely to be re-elected.
When asked about SJB MP Rajitha Senaratne’s decision to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe and his remarks that he would spend all his resources to ensure Wickremesinghe’s victory, Rajapaksha responded pointedly, saying, “With the money Rajitha Senaratne has earned, he could finance at least a hundred elections.”
